Sergipe-Alagoas Basin

ANP’s 12th Bid Round agreements were executed on May 15, 2014. In this Bid Round a consortium formed by Novapetroleo and Petrobras (50% share each) acquired seven exploration and prodution concessions in the onshore basin of Sergipe-Alagoas. The concessions have up to five years in the exploratory phase, and over 27 years of prodution in case of commercial discoveries.

It is expected that 5 or 6 wells will be drilled during the first exploration period, which extends to 2019.

Geologicaly and geographically, the seven blocks fall into two groups, each one operated by one of the partners.

The SEAL-T-279280291 and 292 blocks are situated in the Penedo municipality, Southern Alagoas State, just north of the São Francisco River. These blocks are operated by Novapetroleo and have a total area of 126.4 km2.

The SEAL-T-345 and 360 blocks are located in Northeastern Sergipe State, in the municipalities of Pacatuba and ilha das Flores. They are operated by Petrobras, and have a total area of 93.1 km2.

SEAL-T-279

Concession Area: 31.56 Km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (Operator) and Petrobras (50%)

This block is part of the group of four concessions located on the Penedo High, an important regional geological feature of the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin. The expected sedimentary formations are the oldest section of the Basin, including Paleozoic reservoirs.

Minimum Exploratory Program (PEM) Preliminary:

  • Geological and geophysical surveys.

SEAL-T-280

Concession area of 31.55 km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (Operator) and Petrobras (50%)

As the SEAL-T-279, is part of the set of blocks on the Penedo High

Preliminary PEM.

  • Seismic
  • 1 exploration well

SEAL-T-291

Concession area of 31.55 km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (operator) and Petrobras (50%)

Also part of the group of blocks on the Penedo High.

Preliminary PEM:

  • Seismic
  • 1 exploration well

SEAL-T-292

Concession area of 31.55 km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (operator) and Petrobras (50%)

Also part of the group of blocks on the Penedo High.

Preliminary PEM:

  • Seismic
  • 1 exploration well

SEAL-T-345

Concession area of 31.55 km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (operator) and Petrobras (50%)

This group of four concessions is located close to the Ponte dos Mangues Fault, an intermediate step between the deepest area of the basin, which extends into the sea, and its shalower part, to the west. Main exploratory targets are the reservoirs of the rift section, which occur at the Harpia field, immediately to the north.

Preliminary PEM:

  • Seismic
  • 1 exploration well

SEAL-T-346

Concession area of 31.55 km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (operator) and Petrobras (50%)

This block is located in the lower block of the Ponta dos Mangues Fault, in a deeper step in relation to the others. Targets are reservoirs of rift or transitionnal sections, which are oil bearing in the fields of the Tigre and Ponta dos Mangues, located to the southewest.

SEAL-T-360

Concession area of 29.89 km2

Consortium Novapetroleo 50% (operator) and Petrobras (50%)

Like the T-345 block, this concession is located in the block below the Ponta dos Mangues Fault, at a deeper step in relation to the others. Targets are reservoirs of rift or transitional sections, which are oil bearing in the fields of the Tigre and Ponta dos Mangues, located to the southewest.

Preliminary PEM:

  • Seismic
  • 1 exploration well
